2002 JUN 20 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- EntreMed, Inc., (ENMD) a biopharmaceutical leader in angiogenesis research and product development, reported data, including a complete tumor response, partial tumor responses and stable disease, from its phase I clinical trial that combined Panzem and Taxotere to treat patients with metastatic breast cancer.
Additional findings, presented at the American Society for Clinical Oncology annual meeting, demonstrated that the Panzem-Taxotere treatment is well tolerated with mild side effects typically associated with Taxotere given on a weekly basis. Combined Panzem and Taxotere did not alter the behavior of the individual compounds.
Investigator Kathy D. Miller, MD, assistant professor of medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, commented, "As an oncologist studying breast cancer, I am encouraged by these clinical data, particularly by the complete tumor response that has been maintained for more than a year and the observation of additional partial responses and reported stable disease. ...
