Manufacturing margins are low, but demand for carbonless remains consistent, writes Andy Scott.

Mitsubishi HiTec Paper's UK managing director Brian Garson said that price increases announced in April had now gone through on Giroform reels and sheets. 'Our mill's international order book for all grades is very good,' he claimed.

Premier Paper marketing director Rob Viner said: 'Customers' requirements for carbonless paper have been very consistent over the past three months.'

The closures of carbonless production at Sappi's Transcript mill and Papeteries Mougeot have removed 75,000 tonnes of carbonless paper from the sector in 2002.
