2002 JUN 12 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- ID Biomedical announced that Shelly McNeil of Dalhousie University in Halifax presented phase I clinical trial results for StreptAvax at the Fifth Annual Conference on Vaccine Research. McNeil's presentation described the first study in humans of StreptAvax, ID Biomedical's multivalent recombinant vaccine developed to prevent group A streptococcus infections.
The National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID), a sponsor of the conference, issued a press release highlighting the clinical trial results of StreptAvax. The StreptAvax presentation was chosen by NFID because it "represents cutting edge development in the field, and holds great promise for improving public health in the U.S. and abroad."
The purpose of this press release was to call attention to two selected presentations from the conference, which disclosed particularly important scientific information and findings.
