Man shot at West Ashley apartments during drug deal in August 1999
A 21-year-old North Charleston man pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 30 years in prison for a fatal shooting during a failed drug deal in August 1999, officials said Friday.
Christopher Bullard is one of three people charged with killing Kai Anthony Hamilton, who was shot to death at the Palms Apartments in West Ashley, authorities said.
In August, Terry Beylotte, 20, also of North Charleston, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 30 years in prison, prosecutors said.
A third suspect, James Orvin, 48, of North Charleston, who was charged with murder and armed robbery, is awaiting trial, authorities said.
Bullard and Beylotte must serve 85 percent of their sentences before they will be eligible for release.
