Two satellite radio providers exist, XM (www.xmradio.com) and Sirius (www.siriusradio.com). We went with XM for our road trip because at the time, it was the one with available service. Sirius is scheduled for a national rollout July 1, boasting that its 100 channels are commercial-free. Both services require dedicated tuners; neither broadcast is compatible with the other's equipment.
