On Sunday, May 5, a judge for the Amsterdam High Court, Jan Wolter Wabeke, hosted a long and leisurely "Burgundian lunch" for some important political friends. They were high government officials and their spouses; among them were even a few ministers, past and present. As the fine wine flowed, talk naturally turned to the upcoming elections. Voters were on the warpath, all agreed. They were angry about everything--seemingly unstoppable immigration, overburdened public services, rising crime and unemployment. Most of all, they were fed up with complacent mainstream politicians who would not tackle these issues--people a bit like Wabeke's guests.
Not that anyone ...
