As Lesbian Caucus Chair from 1990-1993, I have been present through the many changes in NWSA's governance structure, stemming from what we refer to ominously as "Akron." (1) However, my love affair with the Lesbian Caucus (LC) began long before that. As an older, nontraditional, graduate student, I remember the thrill I felt when I saw the LC chair featured on the stage with the other governance members. This was a time when few other academic organizations recognized lesbian presence, much less had an identifiable representative as part of a governance structure.
