2002 MAY 16 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- A study reported at the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists 33rd Annual Meeting points to genetic factors associated with women's increased risk for developing cancers.
The study utilizes both molecular analysis of endometrial cancer patients' tumors, and personal and family histories of cancer to gain insight into understanding inherited risk of developing cancers.
The study, "MSI in Endometrial Carcinoma: Absence of MLH1 Promoter Methylation is Associated with Increased Familial Risk of Cancers," was led by David G. Mutch, MD, of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
