One merchant said that both of its supplier mills had been very busy, with extended lead times being reported.

'Sales on reels have shown a modest growth each month since January, but sheet sales remain static,' said the source.

The market has also seen the recent announcement by French manufacturer Papeteries Mougeot that it is to sell its carbonless paper manufacturing machine to a subsidiary of Bollore, Papeteries de Leman.

A spokeswoman for Papeteries Mougeot, which manufactures Asset carbonless reels for Premier Paper, said that production of carbonless paper would cease from 1 December 2002.
