CONTROVERSIAL diver Mohamed Azheem Bahari was nominated for the Malaysian School Sports Council (MSSM) sportsboy of the year award, which he is favourite to win if based on sporting achievements alone.

However, the MSSM will be under fire if Azheem wins the award, which is awarded to athletes who are looked upon as role models.

The MSSM-Milo Awards ceremony will be held at the Singgahsana Hotel in Petaling Jaya on Thursday.

Azheem, who won two gold medals at the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games last year, was suspended for six months by the Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia (ASUM) for his part in the assault of …
