Lanzhou, 30 March: A programme to control desertification in northwest China, supported by the Asian Development Bank, has been launched recently in Gansu Province.

The problem of desertification has been plaguing west China and causing environmental degradation and poverty in rural regions for years. Gansu is one of the places suffering most.
