Russia's Middle East envoy begins tour of Jordan, Saudi Arabia.

Moscow, 17 March: The Russian foreign minister's special envoy, Andrey Vdovin, has begun a tour of Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

The diplomat told ITAR-TASS on the telephone that in Amman he will continue consultations on ways of ending the stalemate in the Palestinian territories.

In Riyadh, Vdovin is expected to meet with Saudi Arabia's foreign minister and be received by crown prince Abdallah Bin-Abd-al-Aziz. Saudi Arabia's Middle East initiative will be discussed which, Vdovin said, is a positive contribution to the cause of a comprehensive settlement in the region.
