LOCAL hauliers, faced with decreasing container load volume and a ten-fold increase in players, are uncertain of their next course of action.
Throughput levels at the local ports have increased from 5.25 million containers in 2000 to more than 7.5 million TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) last year.
The increase was attributed to transhipment, otherwise the import and export volumes would have fallen by some 10 per cent.
In 2000, the local ports mustered 2.34 million TEUs declining some 10 per cent to 2.11 million last year.
