USA, Saudi Arabia discuss crown prince's Middle East initiative.
A Saudi newspaper has reported on contacts held recently between Saudi and US leaders to discuss the crown prince's initiative for a Middle East peace settlement. Quoting "Western diplomatic sources", the paper said Crown Prince Abdallah told the USA that the continuation of Israeli "violence" against Palestinians and attempts to "circumvent" the Saudi initiative showed that Israel did not want peace. The sources added that US officials Tenet and Burns told the crown prince that the USA supported his initiative.
