Peshawar, 25 February: Opium traders say that raw material [precursor chemicals] for producing heroin is coming in to Afghanistan in huge quantities now.
Traders from Quetta [capital of Balochistan Province in Pakistan] told Afghan Islamic Press that the material which is used to make powder (heroin) was coming from India and Central Asia to Afghanistan in huge quantities. They said that this material is smuggled into Afghanistan and stored in various places until it is used in the heroin-manufacturing process. These imports of raw material to make heroin have started.
