ISLAMABAD : The Public Account Committee on Tuesday scoffed at the poor financial system in defence services, which it said could not be allowed, because defence was no more "a sacred cow".

"First, let me tell you that Defence is not a sacred cow any more. Every rupee has a sanctity and this feeling must be felt by the Defence services," H.U. Beg, the chairman of the PAC said.

He said that big organisations like PIA and Pakistan Steel Mills have failed to prove themselves prudent and we, as a committee, feel that any commercial activity on the part of Defence services can add to the miseries," he said.
