Former drug controller gets 5-year rigorous imprisonment, Rs 7 million fine.

ISLAMABAD : An accountability court on Tuesday convicted the former Assistant Drug Controller Dr Tanveer Alam to five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 7 million for issuing fake consumption certificates for raw material during active service.

The court comprising Judge Rehmat Hussain Jaffri ruled that in case of default in the payment of fine, Dr Tanveer will have to undergo another two-and-a-half years of imprisonment. He has also been debarred from holding or being elected to any public office and obtaining any financial facility for a period of 10 years.
