Snow Brand Foods liquidation plan gets mixed reaction.
Scandals over the deliberate mislabeling of beef by Snow Brand Foods Co. has forced the once prestigious company into liquidation scheduled for the end of April.
The company's 950 employees, who will be let go by the end of next month, expressed shock at the news, while many consumers said they considered it a matter of course.
The scandals proved too much for the firm, which has come to be seen as bereft of corporate ethics.
On Friday morning, employees waiting to enter the firm's headquarters in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, stiffened when asked by reporters: "What do you think of the fact that your company has given up trying to rehabilitate itself?" …
