South Africa: Inkatha seeking to change its image as a solely Zulu party.

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in Gauteng is to embark on an aggressive campaign to shed its image as a party dedicated to the Zulu nation.

The party is largely seen as the political identity of Zulus, traditionally based in KwaZulu-Natal but with a strong presence in hostels in other provinces.

Carving a new identity is part of its programme of action ahead of the 2004 general elections.
