BSP pleased with new UCPB board.

Banking regulators yesterday welcomed the smooth management transition at the United Coconut Planters Bank (UCPB), saying it was ready to assist the controversial financial institution.

"(We are) ready to cooperate with the new board of directors," BSP governor Rafael B. Buenaventura said in a statement.

He added that regulators were pleased with the National Government's decision to appoint individuals "with known probity and extensive experience in banking and business."

Mr. Buenaventura singled out new UCPB chairman and president Edward S. Go whom he said was a "veteran banker" capable of steering the bank. …
