Former president Joseph E. Estrada's admission that he signed bank documents using the alias "Jose Velarde" only confirmed the damning testimony of Equitable PCI Bank senior vice-president Clarissa Ocampo during his impeachment trial at the Senate in December 2000.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo made this statement yesterday as she said the people never doubted Ms. Ocampo's testimony in the first place.

"To begin with, we didn't doubt the testimony of Clarissa Ocampo anyway so it just bolstered her testimony," the President said of her predecessor's recent admission.
