Taipei, Jan. 31, 2002 (CENS)--VIA Technologies Inc. has decided to venture into the DVD chipset market and has already placed such orders with Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg. Co. (TSMC), executives of the local chipset maker said yesterday

VIA Technologies expects to deliver between three and four million DVD chipsets per month in the second quarter. The newly developed DVD chipset, an integrated chip of analog and digital signals, will be sold at less than US$10 per unit
