Taipei, Jan. 29, 2002 (CENS)--The New Taiwan dollar yesterday ended higher against the U.S. dollar due to gains on the local bourse and a rebound in the Japanese yen, market dealers said

The N.T. dollar rose NT$0.042 against the greenback Taipei foreign exchange market to close at NT$35.015. The local currency opened at NT$35.027 and was traded between NT$34.990 and NT$35.015

Interbank transactions were valued at US$312 million, down slightly from the US$381 million recorded in the previous session. Dealers said the 1% gain in the main stock market index to near a one-year closing high and the relative strengthening of the Japanese yen after its recent …
