Ferrari chose the Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art to unveil its FX model (above) and the quattro porte Maserati (right).
Ferrari is showing a full-size styling model of its ``project FX,'' the successor to the F40 and F50, through July 14 in Tokyo, where it is also previewing the design of its Maserati sedan.
The production FX could bear the name ``Enzo'' in honor of Ferrari's founder when it's unveiled Sept. 26 at the Paris show. Sales begin in early 2003 at an estimated $450,000, while production will be around 300 to 350 units.
Ferrari claims Formula One champion Michael Schumacher is deeply involved in the development of the car, which will feature a carbon fiber chassis and body. FX will be powered by a new 650-hp normally aspirated 6.0-liter 48-valve V12, linked to a clutchless, F1-style transmission. Top speed exceeds 215 mph with a 0-to-60-mph time of less than four seconds.
