AstraZeneca reports 11% increase in first quarter sales.(Brief Article)

The Anglo-Swedish drug group AstraZeneca Plc has reported sales of USD4.42bn in the first quarter, compared to USD3.99bn in the same period last year.

The stomach ulcer drug Losec has remained AstraZeneca's best-selling product - it had sales of USD1.22bn in January-March against USD1.50bn in last year's first quarter.

The sales of several drugs increased significantly. For instance the Nexium ulcer drug had sales of USD356m compared to USD81m last year while the sales of the Seroquel schizophrenia treatment went up from USD189m to USD336m.
