New Karachi Stock exchange chairman keen to start grand system, internet trading: Defaulting companies to be delisted, liquidated.

KARACHI : Salim Chamdia, Chairman of the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) for the year 2002 has said that efforts would be made to get liquidation proceedings initiated against the companies already delisted from the bourses and implementation of grand trading system and introduction of internet based trading.

The chairman met the new board of directors for the year 2002 and during his induction speech he said that the year 2002 has started with KSE 100 Index at a very low level of 1273.07.

"The year 2001, as you are aware, proved to be very difficult for the securities markets around the world due to fear of US-led global recession and the disaster at the World Trade Centre and Pentagon on September 11, followed by ongoing tension on our eastern borders."
