The death of Simon Broadbent means the industry has lost an outstanding practitioner. As has been pointed out, Simon played a huge role as the instigator of the IPA's Advertising Effectiveness Awards, but he was also one of the first visionary media planners.
Simon was developing media planning systems at Leo Burnett in the late 70s and early 80s, before anyone else was even aware of what planning systems were.
