2002 APR 18 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Baylor Health Care System medical centers are launching a new program to raise awareness about and change women's understanding of heart disease, the number-one killer of women.
Women's HeartAdvantage, (WHA) a national initiative that also will educate women on how to talk with their physicians about their risk for heart disease, is being implement in 15 health systems across the country.
"At Baylor, we are very excited about participating in a program that can truly impact the lives of women. Building women's awareness of who is at risk for heart disease, what the symptoms are and how to react if symptoms occur is crucial," said Melissa Carry, MD, cardiologist at Baylor University Medical Center and national spokesperson for Women's HeartAdvantage.
