2002 APR 11 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Barr Laboratories, Inc., (BRL) announced that it has signed a series of agreements with Natural Biologics, LLC to develop an "AB" rated conjugated estrogens product based on Natural Biologics' equine-based raw material.
The company said that it believes that a product application based on the Natural Biologics' raw material will meet all of the regulatory requirements necessary for FDA approval of a product that is directly substitutable for Wyeth's Premarin conjugated estrogens.
While the details of the agreements were not disclosed, Barr said that it will contribute the pharmaceutical, regulatory, manufacturing and sales and marketing expertise necessary to commercialize a generic conjugated estrogens product. Barr will also provide financing to Natural Biologics of up to $35 million over a three-year period and up to $35 million in additional milestone payments up to and including approval of a generic product.
