2002 APR 4 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Artemis Medical, Inc., announced the commercial release of the MammoMark Biopsy Site Identifier for breast biopsy site identification. The MammoMark is specifically designed to facilitate more accurate and precise postprocedure identification of the biopsy site.
The MammoMark is the first breast biopsy site identifier to incorporate self-expanding collagen with a centrally located titanium clip. When placed in the biopsy site, the MammoMark rapidly hydrates and conforms to the size and shape of the biopsy cavity. The MammoMark is echogenic and radiopaque providing physicians the advantage of precise identification of the biopsy site using ultrasound or mammography. Within a matter of weeks, the MammoMark resorbs, leaving the centrally placed titanium clip for long-term follow-up.
