WASHINGTON ? Compaq Computer Corp. chairman and CEO Michael Capellas said March 26 that there was no word yet on when independent proxy counters would complete their tally of the Hewlett-Packard Co. shareholder vote, though he indicated the firms were continuing to prepare for life as a single competitor.
Capellas told the Council of Institutional Investors that Compaq and HP will concentrate on making the merger painless for customers.
