Ogilvy's London operation was left reeling following the shock dismissal of its group chairman and chief executive, Paul Simons, on Monday.
The move was instigated by Ogilvy's European chairman, Mike Walsh, who cited "different views about the strategy for and performance of Ogilvy in the UK".
He said: "It has become clear that Paul and I have very different views about business performance and what the future strategy for the Ogilvy group in the UK should be."
