I wish to thank your team for the article "Race in the Boardroom" (Business, Feb. 18). I am the first of my race to have a full-time position at the University level in Austria. In the 15 years I've been on the faculty, I've noticed that racism is prevalent on all levels. When I was selected for the position, some faculty members openly said, "His image does not fit in," or "I refuse to teach next to a Negro." Although I'm a full-time faculty member at a major institution, an outdated law--only Austrian citizens and EU members can be voted upon-- hinders me from ever having an opportunity to move into more responsible positions such as department head or president of the ...
