Since last we reported on BMW's plans to resurrect the 6 Series (AW, Dec. 10, 2001), BMW has taken to the frozen roads of Scandinavia for tests to make certain the car's sophisticated braking and stability systems will work properly under frigid conditions.

Sources at BMW say the car, codenamed E63, is fitted with a newly developed brake system in which each wheel can be independently slowed. Similar to a system Mercedes-Benz is testing on its forthcoming SLR super sports car, the brakes reportedly require careful calibration to work correctly, especially at extremely cold temperatures.
