U.S. urges new work on traceability by Codex inspection committee.(Brief Article)

The U.S. delegation was set to urge the Codex Committee on Food Import and Export Inspection and Certification Systems to undertake new work on traceability when the CCFICS met Feb. 25-March 1 in Brisbane, Australia (a report on the CCFICS meeting will appear in the April issue of Food Traceability Report).

In a draft document released at a Feb. 7 public preparatory meeting, the United States urged that the committee's traceability discussion focus on food safety only, "given divergent views on traceability at this time." The United States recommended that CCFICS:
