In the fun department, our Subaru WRX continues to delight. There's not a person on staff who doesn't have a blast piloting the bright-blue, turbocharged all-wheel driver. ``It's a rocket,'' says one, ``really stable and a hoot to drive. The seats are terrific, the driving position suits me perfectly.''
The WRX impresses in the touring department, too. Twice this quarter it has done long-distance duty, once carrying a family of five plus luggage and toys on a trip to Northern Michigan and while Dad says it was a snug fit, there were no complaints. One of our motorsports correspondents took the WRX to the New Hampshire race. He praised its responsiveness in zipping along the twisty New England two-lanes, and he likens it to a Mitsubishi Colt turbo of the '80s, only better put together.
Mechanically though, things aren't so hot. Last quarter the dealer tightened a loose motor mount, but we're still experiencing mild driveline lash and a vibration at idle and wonder if the ...
