2002 MAR 7 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- The National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations (NABCO) relaunched its popular website at www.nabco.org on January 31, 2002, welcoming visitors with enriched and updated content and services.
NABCO announced plans for its expanded site, featuring The NABCO Recurrence Project, during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2002. The NABCO Recurrence Project was created for those learning about or living with recurrent and advanced breast cancer, their family, friends, caregivers and health care professionals. This educational resource is supported by Novartis, a major oncology company and a principal sponsor of NABCO's website.
Breast cancer "recurrence" is rediagnosis or return of the disease after it has been initially diagnosed and treated. When breast cancer is "advanced" or "metastatic," the disease has either spread locally in the chest area, or progressed beyond the breast to other locations or organs in the body - either after prior treatment or at initial diagnosis. In one of the first online areas to focus on the topic, NABCO will offer research updates, sources for expert care and support, practical resources and facts about detection and treatment.
