Los Angeles, 16 January: Republic of China [ROC] Vice-President Annette Lu solicited investment for Taiwan Wednesday [16 January] in a meeting with ethnic Chinese businessmen in Los Angeles.

Lu, who arrived in Los Angeles Tuesday on her way back to Taiwan from a trip to Central and South America, told the some 100 overseas Chinese businessmen present that the ROC economy will be put to a severe test, especially its agriculture and conventional industries, in the wake of its 1 January entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO).
