The French carmaker PSA has moved its 40 million [pound sterling] UK Citroen account out of the Havas-owned Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper and into its sister agency, Partners BDDH.
The news is a relief to Partners, which lost its 10 million [pound sterling] UK Mercedes-Benz business last November to Campbell Doyle Dye, the Omnicom-backed start-up. BDDH had held the account for five years.
Euro RSCG has handled the PSA-owned Citroen and Peugeot brands in the UK since 1994. It maintains its 42 million [pound sterling] Peugeot account, for which it has produced famous advertising such as the "thoughts" spot for the 406.
When the Citroen account was awarded to the agency it was done so on the proviso that it would be handled in a different building from the rival Peugeot brand. Euro RSCG's managing director, Chris Pinnington, denied that it will be closing one of its two buildings, but confirmed the account move would lead to job losses. The Intel account is run from the Citroen building along with the agency's interactive department.
