To Many, Menstrual Pain Puts Brakes On Career, Family Life, New Survey Finds.
2002 FEB 21 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Every month, millions of women encounter mild-to-moderate pain during menstruation. More often than not, the pain is tolerable. Yet, for almost half of women in the United States (43%), pain from menstrual cramps is more than a stressful annoyance; the pain is severe enough to disrupt their daily lives. This and other findings come from a new national StrategyOne omnibus survey.
It is estimated that menstrual pain is responsible for 600 million lost work hours and $2 billion in lost productivity each year. The survey findings bear this out, as nearly one in five women (18%) say they've missed one or more days of work, school, or other important activities in the past year due to menstrual cramps.
