2002 FEB 21 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- "Life After Breast Cancer Symposium: The Art and Science of Breast Cancer" will take place on March 2, 2002, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Community House, 380 S. Bates St., Birmingham, Michigan.
Sharing & Caring, a breast cancer education and support organization, affiliated with William Beaumont Hospital, will host this daylong symposium for breast cancer patients, survivors, and their families.
"Life After Breast Cancer" symposium will deal with the latest technology in diagnosing and treating breast cancer, the problems and promises of complementary and alternative medicine, and how art can assist with the healing process.
The symposium begins with five doctors from William Beaumont Hospital sharing the latest technology in their fields of expertise. The speakers and their specialties include David Decker, MD, who is the director of research and education at Beaumont's Cancer Center; Alvaro Martinez, MD, who is certified in therapeutic radiology by the American Board of Radiology and is chair of the radiation oncology department; Patricia Miller, MD, who is a diagnostic radiologist specializing in mammography, breast ultrasound, steroetactic core biopsy and needle localization procedures and is cochief of the Breast Imaging section; Kurt Neumann, MD, specializes in hematology and medical oncology and is a clinical professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine; and Helen Pass, MD, a surgeon who limits her practice to surgical diseases of the breast and is head of the Comprehensive Breast Care Center at William ...
