The Tajik power ministries have been reshuffled but the news has not yet been made public, Iranian radio has said. The reason behind this may be concern about public reaction to the presence of foreign armed forces involved in the Afghan war, Iranian radio from Mashhad said on 6 January, quoting "certain political observers". The radio quoted analysts as saying that the appearance of new political and military figures in Tajikistan's arena was an "irresistible necessity" given the political conditions in Central Asia and Afghanistan.
