2002 FEB 13 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- ACLARA BioSciences (ACLA) is collaborating with P.J. Utz, assistant professor of medicine, and William Robinson, both at the Stanford University School of Medicine, to apply ACLARA's eTag technology for proteomics research. In particular, the Stanford researchers plan to characterize serum autoantibody profiles in a variety of autoimmune diseases, with the objective of developing "immunology proteome" panels for use in drug discovery, clinical medicine, and academic research.
Utz explained, "I am very interested in the potential of ACLARA's eTag technology for profiling autoantibodies. One particularly enabling feature of the eTag technology is that the assay is performed in solution phase, and thus it is not necessary to immobilize the antigen probes onto a bead or glass surface.
