I always wondered exactly why it was called Bedside, and I finally asked legendary Fun Fearless Female and long-time Cosmo editor-in-chief Helen Gurley Brown. Her reply: "Some of us like to do just about everything we can in bed--read, eat, study, talk, play with the cat, visit on the phone, occasionally even sleep. If our reader checked the astrological forecast of the man--or men--in her life, plus a friend or two, family members, and herself, she'd be spending several nights with our little book."
