Pop superstar Nelly Furtado has never been afraid of going after what she wants. The 23-year-old Toronto native began writing songs when she was 12, started her own hip-hop band at 17, and signed her record deal with DreamWorks when she was an unknown 20-year-old.
Today, anonymity is a thing of the past for Nelly, thanks to last year's hit single "I'm Like a Bird." With her fun hip-hop tunes and unique urban-meets-uptown style, one thing's for sure: This fly girl is only beginning to take off.
