Although Brad Allison remains superintendent of Albuquerque Public Schools, key officials were already considering the prospect of a future without him leading the state's largest district.

Albuquerque Teachers Federation President Ellen Bernstein said the Albuquerque Board of Education's letter requesting Allison's resignation will help rally support from teachers for the district's bond issue and mill levy tax election Feb. 5.

Without the teachers' vote, the bond election was in danger of failing, she said. "I think the board was worried."
