The Living Bank is preparing to launch a national registry of organ donors in January that will be located on the Internet.
The non-profit organization, which has been operating in Houston for 34 years, spent $400,000 and the last year and a half creating the database of organ donors. The unique registry will be available to all of the organ procurement organizations, tissue banks and eye banks across the country.
Jon Eiche, president of The Living Bank, says those professionals will be able to access the registry over the Internet to quickly determine if a person is an organ donor.
