Those who still need proof that Bob Lutz is revolutionizing General Motors' product development efforts need look no further than the Pontiac Solstice. What was merely an idea in September is now a driveable concept car.

Penned by designer Franz Von Holzhausen at GM's California studio, at Lutz's urging the car went from a computer math design to a foam model in 21 days, and from foam to a functional concept in 15 weeks. The two-seat convertible, along with a non-running coupe version, debuted at the Detroit auto show.
