2002 JAN 16 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Israel has developed an anthrax vaccine and could produce enough to immunize the entire population within months, an Israeli newspaper reported December 20, 2001.
The Haaretz daily reported that the Israeli vaccination can be administered in one injection, unlike the U.S. vaccination, which requires at least three doses. The U.S. vaccination also has a number of side-effects, including rashes, chills, fever and allergic reactions. The Israeli vaccination does not have side-effects, the report said.
The Israeli vaccine was developed at the Nes Tsiona Biological Institute, south of Tel Aviv, according to the paper. Arik Gordin, a spokesman at the institute, refused to confirm or deny the report. Israeli officials did not confirm or deny the report published in the Haaretz daily.
