STEMMONS FREEWAY -- Exxon Mobil Corp. has tapped The Staubach Co. to help it unload about 800,000 square feet of excess Dallas office space.

The oil and gas behemoth is aiming to sell 11 of the 14 buildings at its 33-acre Pegasus Place campus, including an 18-story, 552,000-square-foot Dallas office tower that's an icon off Stemmons Freeway.

Mobil Corp. moved its exploration and production operations to the tower, originally developed as a headquarters for Zale Corp., in 1985. Mobil employed 1,550 at the campus prior to its. $80 billion merger with Exxon Corp. at the end of 1998.

Many workers have since moved to ExxonMobil offices in Houston or Reston, Va., or to the company's 365,000-square-foot headquarters in Las Colinas.
